Still Time to Register for Free BEA Badges & Celebration Lunch
Bookstore and Provisional members of the American Booksellers Association can still register for free badges to BookExpo America 2012.
All ABA members planning to attend the 2012 show must register via the BEA website. A six-digit ABA Member ID number must be supplied at the time of registration to qualify for the free badges. Booksellers with questions and those who need their Member ID should send an e-mail with the store name, address, and key contact to ABA’s member relationship managers (Nathan Halter in the GLIBA, MIBA, MPIBA, PNBA, and SIBA regions; Kaitlin Pitcher in the NAIBA, NCIBA, NEIBA, and SCIBA regions).
ABA programming at the show includes the Day of Education on Monday, June 4; the Celebration of Bookselling Author Awards Luncheon and the ABA Annual Meeting and Town Hall on Tuesday, June 5; and the inaugural ABC Children’s Institute on Wednesday, June 6.
Reservations for the Celebration Luncheon, from 12:15 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, are free and open exclusively to two booksellers at each ABA member store. Reserve now. Questions regarding the lunch should be addressed to Mark Nichols, ABA development officer.
Hotel reservations for this year’s show are via the BEA Hotel & Travel Desk. There is no official ABA hotel this year, as BEA was unable to secure a block of rooms at an affordable price that would accommodate a majority of the members who will be attending the show.
In addition to special room rates, the BEA Hotel & Travel Desk offers a number of travel discounts. Savings include five percent on American Airlines and two to seven percent on Delta; 10 percent on Amtrak; and five percent on rental cars from Avis.
