Registration for the first-ever American Booksellers Association ABC Children’s Institute is now open to booksellers at all ABA member bookstores. The daylong program of learning, networking, and festivities focusing on children’s books and bookselling will take place on Wednesday, June 6, at BEA.
ABA’s Board of Directors has named three director candidates to stand for election to three-year terms on the Board, beginning June 2012. Under ABA’s Bylaws, bookstore members may submit petitions to have the names of additional candidates added to the ballot.
Updated March 5, 2012: The first-ever American Booksellers Association ABC Children’s Institute will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at New York’s Javits Convention Center during BookExpo America 2012.
From Sunday, March 25, through Wednesday, March 28, ABA will be hosting three Booksellers Forums on the West Coast. Each will feature an open discussion of industry issues and “The Best of Winter Institute 7’s Best Practices Sessions.”
ABA will reach the mid-point on its spring Booksellers Forum tour with events in Wichita, Kansas, and Denver, Colorado, on March 22 and 23, respectively. ABA member and non-member booksellers are invited to attend.

The American Booksellers Association’s Board of Directors met on January 16 and 17, 2012, prior to the seventh annual Winter Institute, at the Astor Crowne Plaza in New Orleans.
Last weekend ABA CEO Oren Teicher was the keynote speaker at the British Columbia Booksellers Association’s Winter Education Day. Teicher’s two talks focused on book industry trends and the opportunities and challenges facing independent booksellers across North America.
