ABA will hold its 2012 Day of Education on Monday, June 4, during BEA at New York’s Javits Convention Center. The free program, sponsored by the Ingram Content Group, is targeted at ABA bookstore and provisional members but is open to all trade show attendees.

On Monday, ABA Board members and staff met with representatives of the  Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., to express ABA’s support for agency model pricing of e-books in connection with the Department’s ongoing investigation of e-book pricing terms.

In an effort to improve and expand services, ABA is asking booksellers to complete a short online survey about BookWeb.org.

The American Booksellers Association’s Board of Directors worked on a number of issues at its March 2 - 5 meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In his bimonthly letter to members, ABA CEO Oren Teicher talks about the association’s spring Booksellers Forums and some of the issues of concern to those who attended the first two gatherings of the season.

The ABA spring Booksellers Forum tour will end on Wednesday, April 25, with a program in conjunction with the New England Independent Booksellers Association’s “All About the Books!” Author Luncheon and Education Program.

Under ABA’s Bylaws, in addition to the Board of Directors candidates put forth by the Nominating Committee and approved by the Board for the 2012 elections, any bookstore member may submit a petition for a director candidate.

ABA will be hosting Booksellers Forums in New York City and Naperville, Illinois, on April 17 and 20, respectively. Each program will feature an open forum discussion and “The Best of Winter Institute 7’s Best Practices Sessions.”
