The American Booksellers Association’s 2012 Board of Directors election results are now final.

On Thursday, May 3, ABA CEO Oren Teicher e-mailed member stores about an important opportunity to make a public comment about the Department of Justice consent decree in regard to the agency model.

In conjunction with recent Booksellers Forums in Illinois and Massachusetts, ABA convened task forces to gather member input on its digital initiatives and educational programming, respectively.

The American Booksellers Association announced this week that Neil Strandberg, a longtime staff member at Denver’s Tattered Cover Book Store, would be joining the association in the newly created position of Director of Member Technology, on Monday, May 7.

Midnight on Monday, May 7, is the deadline for receipt of electronic ballots for the American Booksellers Association’s 2012 Board of Directors elections.

This week, ABA submitted written testimony to the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance in support of the Marketplace Fairness Act (S. 1832), legislation that would give states the right to require remote retailers to collect and remit sales tax in the state, if they choose to do so.

ABA’s main store members have until midnight on Monday, May 7, to submit their electronic ballots for the election of three directors to serve three-year terms on the Board.

ABA’s spring Booksellers Forum tour will end on Wednesday, April 25, with a program in conjunction with NEIBA’s “All About the Books!” Author Luncheon and Education Program.

ABA will hold its 2012 Membership Meeting from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5,  at the Javits Convention Center in conjunction with BEA. The Membership Meeting will be preceded by the association’s annual Town Hall gathering.
